Charleston and back

Yea I made it back from the big city,we had a wonderful time. We were guest at a beautiful home on Seabrook Island. We had such fun on our stay there. We must have eaten dog-gone near all the seafood in the Atlantic, it was so good and fresh it would melt in your mouth. There as a huge Alligator in the marsh right behind the house, he was in the channel in the marsh and boy did he ever put on a show,we named him Samson at night.Ha Ha! That is if Ralph Lauren don’t get him first.
There was a Hispanic grounds keeper I tried to get him to catch it and make us some boots with that rascal, he refused, he kept calling it Diablo. It was a gas the expressions he would give off talking about the Gator. The Charleston Symphony Orchestra put us on a show that was great, those people were first class musicians. More on this later.

Charleston, Here I Come

I am taking a few days off to go to Charleston for a little R&R. I am taking my fishing rod and do a little bit of wetting the old hook while I am there. The way I got it figured is that if Charleston is one of the oldest city’s in the nation, then there should be some big fish there.Ha Ha! If I catch a fish thats fine, if I don’t thats fine, I’m planning on a good time regardless. The home where we will be staying is on Seabrook Island in a gated community and rumor has it that we will have the privilege of getting to see the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra from the front lawn. That will be an added treat for Friday evening. I will let you know how it went upon our return. This is going to be great!

Gone Fishing

I have always lived near water so skinny dipping and fishing have been a part of my life. I went fishing yesterday with my best friend and his family. It turned out to be a hoot. I really did enjoy myself watching their children try to cast a spinning reel. Sometimes the line would go out about 5 feet and slam into the water. Sometimes they would almost hook themselves. I can look back and see myself learning to do the same things when I was a child.

I think they will get the hang of it with more practice and patience. You must have patience to be a fisherman or fisher lady. What’s that old cliché, give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for life. Well I have my work cut out for me. I promise those kids that I would teach them to fish. Am I in for a treat or what?

Vacation time again

I get excited every year when it’s time to get away from the old hum-drum of everyday life. When you can kick your heels’s up and enjoy life for a while. Vacation Time

I can remember when I was a kid and we would go to the Atlanta zoo. I always loved to go and see Willie B the gorilla. He was a main attraction at the zoo. Wille B done a commercial for Samsonite luggage. He would take that suit case and toss that thing all around his cage, trying to make it break. He never made it break.

When I got older and it was time for me to purchase my own traveling accessories, I remembered Willie B and that commercial. I suppose you can guess what I bought. Now when I get ready to take a vacation I pull out the accessories that Willie B inspired. Ole Willie B may have passed on in this world, but my acessories for travel are still intact and doing well. This is aproximately 25 years ago.

Viva Las Vegas

What’s your first thought when you think of Vegas? Casinos? Gambling? Wild Women? I bet you might have thought of something different if I ask you this same question in the 1970′s. You might of said the King? Not just any king, but the King of Rock N’ Roll.

Elvis was a big star everywhere back then, but Las Vegas was his home. Everybody says that Yankee Stadium is the house that Ruth built. Well Las Vegas is the town that Elvis built. I guess you could say the mafia too, but we will save that discussion for another time. Even today Elvis is just as big. It’s probably because you just don’t have 1 out there now. There are dozens of impersonators that are constantly running all over the place, out there in Sin City. There are a lot of other big name stars that we associate with Las Vegas too. You can obviously talk about Mr. Las Vegas himself in Wayne Newton. Then you had some of the old timers like Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. that would keep the crowds out in Las Vegas entertained. I’m just not sure if anybody ever did it like Elvis Pressley did.
