Laying Tile

I am remodeling a bathroom and we took the old tub out and were putting in a walk in shower,first I had a poured marble shower pan made, and now I am getting ready to put tile in the shower. As I am getting older and not as flexible as I were in my younger days, the walk in was the ticket. I have a nephew that is going to lay the tile since I didn’t go to the free Home depot class to learn how to do it myself. I checked our local Tile outlet, and their prices really surprised me. I found tile that was 42 cents a square foot, and they had the same tile at Home Depot for 1.09 a square foot. Monday is the day ,and after that I can Walk in the new shower.

One of the tastiest treats I eat during the Christmas holidays is the peanut butter bars or balls that are covered in chocolate. I wish I had some great recipe that I could pass along to you, but I don’t. So I need your help!

I got my first taste of these in elementary school and I would always trade different parts of my lunch, so I could get a lot of the peanut butter bars that were dipped in chocolate. Most people don’t make them in bars and will use the peanut butter balls instead. The Famous Route 66

I know its hard to follow Route 66 these days, with so many parts of the road in need of repairs or just not heavily traveled, but I would like to ride on it someday. I hear that you can find a lot of great shops and places to buy souvieners along the famous Route 66. This famous road is also called The Mother Road or the Main Street in America. Some people has even referred to it as the Will Rogers Highway. The road was open for travelers back in the 1920′s and it started in Chicago and ran across the country and ended in Los Angeles. If you started on Route 66 in Chicago and traveled to the very end of it in Los Angeles, you would be covering almost 2,500 miles of road, that would lead you through 8 states. Kansas and Texas make up less than 200 miles of the famous route 66, but you would get a good view of the other states if you were to take the entire journey.

The sad story behind Route 66 is the invention of the interstate. Route 66 isn’t a road that you can travel 70 MPH on like the interstates, so when the interstates started popping up, Route 66 became a less traveled road. Many of the businesses along the famous path have went out of business, but many efforts are going on today, to try and restore some of those businesses that are still standing today. Travelers today can still find some great shops along the way and there have also been museums and state parks created along the route for tourists to stop in and get a feel for the historic highway. There is always going to be a small part of Route 66 that runs through this country, I just hope I can get a chance to see it soon, as more and more of the famous highway is lost each year.

Router Firmware

My computer got to where it would not download, so I carried to a friend and he really cleaned the junk out of the thing and it was lightning fast after he finished with it. I got it back home and same thing was happening, I figured the modem must be shot ,but after going straight thru the modem it worked fine I would connect back to the router and it was slow again . I was about to buy a new router and my light went off ,check for updates on the router. Sure enough there were 2 and this baby is faster than when it came out of the box, thanks to my buddy technician and updates i forgot about almost cost me more money.

Anniversary#34

Well tomorrow is the 34th anniversary that I have been married. We have been together for 36 years and never 1 time separated, sure we had some quarrels and spats over a few things but never anything so severe that we needed to be away from each other. 34 years of marriage is not a easy thing to accomplish in todays times, many of our friends and family said it wouldn’t last 6 months, but I guess we showed them.

I am at a time in my marriage that I am the happiest I have ever been and love my wife more than ever before. We are at the point of our lives that we are going to get to spend more time with each other and do a little traveling and get to see places we always wanted to go. We haven’t been blessed with grandchildren yet so we better do our traveling while we can, Cause if we do get grandchildren then there will be plenty of time spent with them to get to know the little tykes. We have so much love to offer a grand child or two or how ever many we get the privilege of having. I know another 34 years is not going to hardly possible so I will take what is left for our family and really love the time we do have. Sure there are things that I wish I could go back and change but that is impossible,I made mistakes and I as always have to learn the hard way.

So for 34 wonderful years of marriage I can honestly say the dog gone it We Made It. So for what ever time we have left together will be a blessing to be a part of. I look forward to the rest of our lives and cherish each and every moment that we get to have with all of our loved ones. We are blessed with two great kids and they are our lives, we done pretty good at raising them, but they are their own person now and they are great in my eyes. I thank my family for the wonderful years and the ones ahead to be had.

Don’t Ruin the Steak

There’s is nothing that taste better than a good Steak. I have seen so many people ruin a good steak and eat it as if it were the best thing they had ever tasted, which could be true for them because they are afraid to try a steak the way it should be Med Rare. I make the claim to be one of the Best Steak Grillers in the business. There are very few Steak houses that I will even eat at, for the simple reason they can’t cook a good steak. There a secret to a good steak and very few people will share that with other people.

The art of grilling a good steak is first you need a good Steak, prime if its affordable to you and if not then get choice. Pick out a steak that is well marbled, one that has a lot of little veins of fat running all through out the lean part of the cut, this is where the flavor comes from. Those little veins of fat will disappear once cooked. Get your grill as hot as it will get, and take your steak and tenderize with old method of piercing it with a fork all over, then take a good white wine and sprinkle it all over the steak,the take McCormicks seasoned meat tenderizer all over the steak until its coated well, on one side only. Best if done overnight but will work at any time.Put the steak on the hot grill with the un seasoned side down first.

Grill for about 5 min on one side then turn, allow 5 min for the other side and sit the steak to the side. If your steak is a inch thick let it sit off the flames for about 10 min.Remove and enjoy one the beat steaks you will ever put in your mouth.

Raking the leaves

I remember as a small child growing up running and jumping in those big piles of leaves that had just been raked and ready for the burn pile. My parents would get a little ill at us kids for scattering what they had just got done getting them up to burn.
