It’s Cold in Ga.

I am looking for a place that is about 75 degrees Fahrenheit year round, cause I can’t stand the cold weather. I have Arthritis so bad in my back and hands, it makes hard for me to get around. As A matter of fact, I don’t get around very well in the winter time. If I could find a place with this kind of temp year round I would probably move there, if it is a island of voodoo or terrorist, I will have to pass on it. Better yet, If I could find something to cure my condition, I would try that. I guess since I don’t know of such a place as that, I will stay here and grippe about my aches.

Hitting the trails

Riding horses was a big part of my life as a child and growing up. I have skipped school more times to ride the horses than all other reasons combined. There was a little store by the school that we would go to the store and get a pack of Bull Durham cigarettes. We didn’t have equestrian riding apparel in order that we would look proper. I was an adult before I got to have any riding apparel. Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving dinner was a success at our home this year, we had the Deep Fried Turkey, Honey Baked Ham, Dressing, all kind of soufflé’s and desserts that were sinful to eat they were so good. All of the family members and friends were well behaved, and pleasant to be around. I got a e-mail from an old friend today and was excited to hear from her, we had not talked to or seen each other in a couple of years now. She is a good ole gal and a strong willed lady, I have seen her go through some adverse situations in her life and come out ok in the end. If anyone deserves all the good things that life has to offer then she should be the recipient of those good things. Good people like her are a dying breed, and you know who you are when you read this.

Gobble Gobble

Tomorrow is the day for giving thanks to the people we are thankful to have in our lives. It’s a day for celebrating the accomplishments we have achieved, and a day for putting on the pounds. The tables will be the meeting place for most of us. The food will be plentiful and good, and we usually make a gluten out of ourselves because there is so much to sample a little of all of the items we like best. There will be Turkey’s and Ham’s, dressing and stuffings, vegetables out the kazoo. The guy’s will be lifting their shirts and rubbing the belly to see if they can get the food to settle a little so they can get some relief from the over stuffing they indulged in.

Some families will be playing ball outside while others prefer to take a little nap, and some will watch the football games on the TV. The ladies will sit at the table after it is cleared enough to sit and talk about the effort that was put forth to make the event a success, and their husbands who helped very little if any at all. Life in America is a wonderful experience, and please don’t forget the Great Service Men and Women, that are over in other country’s trying to keep peace so we can enjoy this time together. I feel that our military personnel don’t get enough of our support, they would love to be where we are, with their families and partaking of a big meal. So when you say grace tomorrow, include the brave men and women and their families who miss them so much and worry their selves into a stressful state of panic at time. God Bless America, and everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Arthritis Pains

I have had surgery for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and I have a lot of pain and problems moving my thumb on my right hand, and when there’s a cold front or Barometric pressure changes indicating that rain is in the future, my Arthritis gets so bad that I can’t use my hand, or grip anything. Just trying to lift a cup of coffee becomes a painful task. My husband has severe back problems, he has had 3 surgery’s and he has Rods and screws in his back along with a bone fusion. His back is so bad that the pain is overwhelming. He can’t walk very far because of the pain, he cant sit very long or lie down in the same position for over 20 minuets, he has a Morphine pump implanted in the stomach area and it pumps Morphine in his spine 24/7 and he still has pain.

We tried Freeze It Gel and it helps my hand and the pain is gone and the movement comes back in just about 7 minuets. I really do love this Freeze it Gel, because it works. My husband with the back injury, I put on a liberal amount of Freeze It Gel on his back and then he uses a Ice Pack for about 30 minuets before bedtime and it gives him enough relief where he can get some sleep at night. Here’s my husband on the Rhino, if we had not tryed Freeze It Gel he would not be able to drive his dog around in the Rhino. I don’t know who likes that thing the most, my husband or the dog.

Rhino Tough

I bought the Rhino by Yamaha, it’s a Utility Vehicle or a side x side. It seats 2 people, has a steering wheel and an accelerator and brake pedal, and it’s 4 wheel drive. Basically its a miniature Jeep. I have ridden many different vehicles in my life, but I do believe this thing is the most interesting of any thing I have ever driven. This little vehicle is a outdoors mans dream. The first day I had it I hauled a 6 point buck out of the woods with no problem, the third day I had it I hauled a 8 point buck from nearly the same location, again, no problem.

I have gone up and down hills that I would have sworn that I would have to put it in Low gear and 4 wheel drive with the differential lock on, and the darn thing done everything in high gear with only 2 wheel drive. I am sure that when I learn the vehicle a little better that there will come a time when Low Gear and 4 Wheel drive will be needed. Until that time comes I am a Happy Rhino owner. Having to use its full potential will be Awesome!

Holidays are near

Lost Leg

My buddy is getting out of the hospital right now as I am typing. Come to find out that his body had become septic and dang near lost the old boy. The doctors are saying that they got most of the bacteria infected leg but there was a little left and they were going to treat it with anti-biotic s and save as much as possible so they can fit him with a prosthesis. He still has his spirits up and i sure hope they stay that way. The holidays are coming up and thats a bad time for things to bad in one’s life. I told him that I wanted his leg because I was going to get a Ivory handle on it and he can have a walking stick that way, and it would be familiar with it already and there would be no getting used to it. Ha Ha!

Thanksgiving Football

Stuffing your face on Thanksgiving is just one of the things you do. The best part is laying around all day and watching the pig skin fly around on the tube. I know the Detroit Lions play every Thanksgiving and for me its tradition to root for them. I didn’t last year, because they was playing the Atlanta Falcons. They get to play the Green Bay Packers this year and I will be like most people and become a Lions fan for a day. Its amazing at how many people do root for the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. I thought it was just something I did, but I have learned now that they just become America’s team on Thanksgiving and everybody roots for them.

I’m not sure what college games will be on that day, but the Atlanta Falcons will get to play the defending Super Bowl Champ Indianapolis Colts. They have the prime time game at 8PM, but I’m just as excited to see the Detroit Lions play too, because they play around the same time we eat our Thanksgiving meal! The smell of turkey in the air and the Detroit Lions on television is Thanksgiving to me.

Loosing a Leg update

I visited my friend this morning at the hospital and hes has a 10-12″ stub where his leg was. He was in good spirits and trying to make jokes about it, but he was really hurting and still scared as to what he is going to do. The nurse was hooking up a pump for pain when I was leaving, so maybe he did not have a lot of pain this evening. I will go and see him again tomorrow morning and let you know how he is doing. Any prayers will be appreciated.

Loosing a Leg

I have a lifelong friend who is going to have surgery tomorrow morning at 6 AM I sure do dread this for him and his family. His wife has cancer and he has been taking care of her, his mother is not well and he takes care of her as well. He is sure that they get to the Doctors for their appointments. This guy has such a positive attitude that he acts like it doesn’t bother him that he is going to lose a leg but I know he is scared and hurting inside and wont show it because he has always been strong for his family. It may take him a little while to be able to talk to me about it but he knows that I know him too good to not encourage him to get it off his chest. He may even need counseling after this ordeal but I know he will refuse it.

He had broke his leg abut 6 weeks ago and now they are going to take it off because of bacteria that had set up in the leg.The doctors don’t know the bacteria origin because they can’t get it to live outside the body. If anybody has ever heard of anything like this please let me know.

Deep Fried Turkey

I love Thanksgiving, I especially love the Deep Fried Turkeys that I cook each year. Just a few years back I use to deep fry turkeys and sell them at 3.50 per lb . I made a good amount of money, but the Turkeys were delicious. I had one guy that would drive about 70 miles one way every year to buy 6 turkeys at a time for Thanksgiving and 6 more for Christmas. I had been Deep Frying Turkeys for a good 10 years before the big name manufacturers came out with a Turkey Fryer, the funny thing is that they don’t know anything about frying turkeys. They don’t have burners that get hot enough and the pots they sell are sub standard. My fryer will burn their pots on the bottom and melt them flimsy things.
