Corn on the Cob Trick

You might think cooking corn on the cob is easy? It’s probably because you have been doing it wrong. There is a trick to it and if you do it this way, you can have the best corn on the cobb possible!

I’m not sure what people mean when they say their corn on the cob is waterlogged? I guess people leave it in the water too long and it becomes that way. I’m not sure I can solve your waterlog problems (if you have any), but I can tell ya how to fix up a nice ear of corn.

1) Grab a pot
2) Turn on the cold water and fill 3/4 full
3) Turn your stove top on high and place that pot of water on it

(Are you with me so for? Good!)

4) Get your corn and do your shucking and washing while you wait for the water to come to a boil
5) When your water is boiling, that is when you stick in the corn (not before)
6) After you have thrown the corn in your boiling pot of water, you can then add a small piece of butter to the boiling mix (this will give the boiling more life and now the water will feverishly boil around those ears of corn)
7) Let your corn boil for 10 to 12 minutes and you have just cooked the most perfect corn on the cob the world has ever seen!
8) Add your salt and butter to your corn when it’s in your plate

So what’s the trick? The trick is getting the water boiling first. So many people like to throw the corn in the water and let it come up the temperature scale as the water does. This causes the corn to lose it’s tasting and nutrient properties. It’s only a small bit, but it’s that small bit that makes a good ear of corn better. Sliding a lilttle butter in the hot mix is great when you have several ears of corn and some are trapped on bottom, while others stay half out of the water. The boiling pressure sometimes doesn’t stir them that well and adding just a little butter in will be like someone standing there with a big spoon stiring them the whole time!

Buying Pool Cues Online

If you’re a pool player and you have your own pool cue, pool case, and perhaps even your own table, I’m sure you know the benefits of shopping for your billiard supplies online. It’s like most things when you shop online it’s just easier to do. People that shop online a lot know that they can quickly go find the lowest prices at a dozen different stores in an hour on the computer. If you were driving around and had to go to a dozen different stores, you would be spending the entire day just finding the lowest price. So shopping online for billiards or anything else just makes sense!

I have been in the market for a pool stick and I have checked out a lot of places online that sells pool cues. I came across PoolDawg.com and found some of the cheapest prices of anybody! If you need a pool stick, a new set of balls for the table, or maybe something to help you maintain the looks of your current pool cue, you can go straight to Pool Dawg and find the lowest prices.

You just don’t find the lowest prices here, but you will find everything else and probably including the kitchen sink too. These guys have so much in stock and any pool player is going to enjoy seeing all the supplies they offer. They have all the big names that you know like Meucci, McDermott, Scorpion, and Viking to just name a few. If you would like a pool stick with more of a theme, you can get a Harley Davidson Pool Cue, an NFL, MLB, NCAA pool cue with your favorite team, or you might like one of the Outlaw Pool Cues. No matter what type of pool cue you decide on; you know that you be paying the lowest price online for it!

So somebody go rack’em and let’s play one!

More Rain

We got a little more rain this morning and the forecasters says that maybe by Tuesday we would get some more, I surely hope this is true and we get at least a couple of inches to help out with the water table a little. I am really worried that we will run out of water and be placed on a rationing system, I am doing my part to help with the conservation of our water supply. Maybe the sky’s will open up and deliver the badly needed water.

We Got Rain

Whew, I am so happy ,we finally got some rain in north Georgia. We are over 16 inches below normal for rain this year and we are in a emergency state of water shortage.By no means are we out of the woods on this crisis, but any rain we get is a blessing. I notice yesterday that the Etowah river that feed the lake Allatoona I saw something I have never seen before, I saw the bottom of the river as I was passing over a bridge. Water rationing could still become a reality, but let’s pray it won’t.

I need some Money Please!

I have been to many banks and borrowed money, and never had a problem until the last time. I have excellent credit and have been doing business with the same bank for 20 years. I went to get a secured loan, and after I had told the processor what I wanted, the personnel there didn’t know how to process it. This was a new branch that opened closer to my home. It took me almost 2 weeks to get this loan after they made many changes and mistakes on it. It would have taken 1 day at their home office. Banks are hiring incompetent people these days.

The next time I need some loans I will go to the home office of my bank. If personal loans are what I need then I will shop around and see what else is there for me. The way I see it my bank works for me. I think my branch office would loan money to anyone, if they can wait for their loan.

At Thrifty Scot, the will work with you and help you get the loan you need, even if you have slow credit. I should have used this resource, but was un a ware that my bank has gone down with customer service. That is one of the most important features for good banking to me.

Longhorns Prime Rib

Longhorns as a rule usually has one of the best Prime Ribs served, but tonight was a different story. The one I had tonight was one of the worst I have ever had. I don’t know exactly what was wrong it, but it was the most bland and un flavorful piece of beef I ever had. They tried to replace it but I did not want another bland cut. I will continue to eat at Longhorns, unless this happens again. By the way ,they serve the Best Chicken Fingers period. No other place does them as good as longhorns.

Heineken Draft Beer II

Well I got another keg of the Heineken draft beer in the fridge ready for my buddy’s to come over and play some music. We get those guitars out and get to playing and after a little while it will be time for a beer break. It seems to me after a few beer breaks that the music sure does sound better, to us any way. I guess if it started sounding good to the general public, they would need their own keg of beer. The little 1.33 gallon keg is just right for a couple of friends getting together and making music. Well I got to go practice, who knows ,you may see me on stage one day.HaHa!

Let It Rain

Yeah know that is a Eric Clapton song that is great, but I am talking about literally. We need rain in Cherokee County Georgia, desperately. Our water supply is down over 16 feet, the worst since 1920, and the Etowah River that feed our lake is flowing at a declined rate breaking the older 1902 record. We are in serious trouble here folks, if we don’t get some rain, water rationing may become a reality for our area. If the Corps Of Engineers don’t stop letting so much water out, we will be out of water in January or February. Right now I am even in favor of a Old Indian Rain Dance, a hurricane , or a tornado to bring in some water, as long as the damage is to a minimum and no one gets hurt. It’ pretty bad when you have to wish for one disaster to replace another.

Cedar Plank Salmon

Has any one cooked on their grill Cedar Plank Salmon, last night I prepared a 2.4 lb Salmon Fillet in the grill on a cedar plank. It gives a smoky aromatic cedar taste. You have to soak the plank in water for at least 1 hour put it on the grill at 350-400 F for 3 min then flip the plank and place the Salmon on the plank, close the lid and let it cook for about 20 min. YumYum! Any Seasoning you want to put on the Salmon is OK.+

Water Crisis in Canton Ga.

I have lived in this Georgia city all my life, and the water situation is becoming severe and if things don’t get better the reality of water rationing may fall into play. I live near Lake Allatoona and it is so low that if something doesn’t change it will be a dry lake by February. This lake is managed by The Corps Of Engineers, and it releases millions of gallons of water daily as a contract for generating electricity. This has to be cut back, but the state of Alabama also gets water from Allatoona and when it was mentioned that cutbacks on the water released daily need to take place, Alabama raised stink demanding they were to get so many hundreds of thousands of gallons daily. They don’t have enough sense to realize they better settle for what they get because no one will have any if things don’t change. I have lived here for 54 years and I have never seen it this bad, I pray that we get some badly needed rain in generous amounts to remedy the problem.

Our problem is so serious that it made National Headlines on the news, we are just a small mostly Agricultural county. There are 4 county’s that rely on Allatoona for water supply, Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, and Fulton, which is the county seat of our Capital city, Atlanta. Building has been running rampant for the last 10 years and our politicians are so stupid they can’t see the infrastructure cannot handle the load they have let it be over burdened with all the out of control building. The illegal immigrants that have covered our county are not helping the problem in any way, they earn money here, and send most of it back to their home land. They will rent a house and there will be 15 living in one house so their cost of living here is minimal. We the American people had better open our damn eyes and make some changes and make them fast or we will all suffer in this crisis we are in.

Electrical Problems

I had built an addition on the back of my garage, and as I was turning on the power to the addition i had some things working and some not. I know I had wired everything correct so it was down to troubleshooting to find the problem. Here was my finding, I had A hot wire that had been clipped that feed a receptacle, it had been clipped and the sheathing pulled back down over it to make it look like it was a complete wire coming out of the sheathing, and the other problem was the same on another receptacle. I have been sabotaged. If I knew who had did this to me I would not hesitate to open up a can of whoop a$#$$%^^ on them. I got a good ideal but I did not see it so I have to hold my tongue and mark it up as I found and I fixed.
