Growing Pot in Georgia
Well I got an eye full this evening,I was coming home this evening and as I was turning in my driveway, I happen to notice something strange looking in my neighbors yard. There were like 6 plants sitting in the front yard of their house in pots that were about 4 feet tall. I looked twice at them because of their unusual look, so I parked my car got out and went over to my neighbors house to see what type plants they were. I was looking at the plants and my neighbor came out and said I see you finally noticed my plants. I said yea I thought they were strange looking. He said I have been growing that pot all summer long. I asked are you not afraid the police will come by and see them, he said sure I am .The police came by the other day with them sitting out here and kept passing by and he stopped and asked if I knew where some person he named lived at. He said he told the policeman no he didn’t know that person so the cop just went on. I told my neighbor ,you are mighty brave or just stupid ,he laughed and said I am going to jail next month any way so it don’t matter. I left shaking my head wondering what has gone wrong with the morale in this country. Better yet how did I get this type of neighbor?

Having Fun with Coke

The Coca Cola Company has been producing the best soda in the world for years. I can still remember when there was just Coke. Now today you can have a variety of treats from the Atlanta based company. The Coke Family has grew to include brands like Diet Coke, Cherry Coke, and Coke zero. All quality products from a quality company.
Now Coke has a great way to have some fun on the computer while you’re sipping on your Coke. They have taken pieces of old movies and put them on a website. You can add in your own words and make actors or actresses from the past say what you tell them to! It’s really pretty cool and you can have hours of fun with this. Create your own little movie and send it to all your friends to see! It will be something they would never expect and be prepared to answer “How did you do that?”, because that would be my first question if someone sent me a movie like this. So go grab a icy cold Coke and sit back and have some fun on the computer!

Play That Funky Music White Boy
I’m not talking to Wild Cherry either, who was the ones that recorded this song. I’m talking about two legendary bands that I believe have made music for all to hear for generations to come. One has already proved that their music is here to stay, while the jury is still out on the other one.
A group of guys going to a high school in Jacksonville, Florida would come together and rewrite the music world as we know it. Their southern music has been tested for about 30 years now, and it appears their music isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Lynyrd Skynyrd is a group that has crossed all the generation gaps and genders. A horrible tradgedy occured in the air that took away the heart and soul of this group when their plane crashed into a swamp in the state of Mississippi. They are just as popular today if not more popular as their music continues to jump generations. They are truly one band that can play that funky music! Check out the 5 greatest songs of this legendary band.
Now another top notch band that I can see their music being just as popular in 30 years from now is the boys from GNR (Guns N’ Roses). Guns N’ Roses are no longer together as a band, but when they were together they put out one hit after another. Their streak at putting out one great song after another one has never been done by any group or singer before. I think the Beatles and the King his self in Elvis Pressley would have trouble with saying they put out as many quality hits as Guns N’ Roses. The top 5 songs from Guns N Roses are going to be hard to distinguish, since you have so many great hits that this band done. GNR is just another group of white boys that are playing that funky music!

The Burning of Atlanta
No it not the civil war again, it’s the oppressive heat we are having here in the metro area. For 3 weeks we have been in the mid 90′s to the 103 degree mark. There is absolutely no air stirring in this stuff. I can only try to imagine what our troops in Iraq are felling. With the extreme temps they have over there I sure hope our Military’s taking good care of our guys and gals serving our country. I am not one to complain a lot but if this heat wave don’t break, then I may. If anyone knows where it’s a place thats 70-75 degrees year round, let me know I am ready to move there.

The economy says; Buy Silver
Do you like to play in the stock market, how about precious metals. Right now is the time to invest into precious metals. The Silver ingots are a hot item. The demand is high and the stock pile is low. It has been this way since 1990. The U.S. government is the major purchaser of silver, and they want all they can get. So if you invest in the bullion you cant go wrong. Buying Silver or Gold is a statement of ones wealth and has been for century’s. It was adorned by kings and queens and other important rulers of their countries. It is always desirable and always has a value. The reason the Government wants all the Silver it can get is because it exhausted it’s supply because after WW2 the government dumped billions and billions of silver in to the world market. Secure your future and buy the precious metals today.

Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk
OK people here is an opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of Alzheimer’s patients. If you have never experienced the profound effect that this terrible disease has on people, then you are in for an eyeopening that you just will not believe. I have seen this dreaded disease many times in my life and it is truly sad. My grand father has this disease and when I go to see him he usually don’t know who I am.
The first time I ever met any one with Alzheimer’s, I think I was 16 years old. My neighbor owned a small grocery store and he would deliver grocery’s to the elder people in our community. He asked me to help him one Saturday and I drove his truck and delivered grocery’s for him. I went to these peoples home and when they answered the door a gentleman told me to put the groceries on the table. As I was doing what I was told, here comes a lady saying to me, George I didn’t think you were ever going to get here.I will get my coat and we will go home. I started looking around in the room to see if there were someone I didn’t see when I came in. The gentleman told me she thought that I was her son and not to pay any attention to her. After I finished my job and was leaving the house the lady started crying for me not to leave her, she already had her coat and was ready to go. I felt so sad for this lady that it brought tears into the eyes of a 16 year old boy. So you can see that this a charitable cause that I feel strongly about.
Lets help and get signed up at Kennesaw State University and sponsor this walk it is only a 12.01 mile walk. We also need people to sign up to be Team Captains, and fund raisers. Go to this site and sign up early and make a commitment to this Memory Walk. The Alzheimer’s Association is dedicated to making this year a success. Lets sign up for the Walk and make the Alzheimer’s Association proud.

Some one will pick this young man up and he will be recording records in the near future. The winner was a Ventriloquist named Terry Fader, This guy was awesome I have never seen anybody so versatile in singing other peoples songs. I haven’t slept a wink, I’m so tired, my mind is on the blink. The words from a Beatles Hit that came so true for me after I had back surgery. I think that I have heard of the word Sleep before, a long time ago. Sleep has been a major problem since the surgery. I have gone as many as 4 days without sleep, and I can tell you personally that it is a serious problem when you walk around like a zombie. I have a implanted pump in the stomach area, that pumps morphine into my spine 24/7,but the pain is still there. Maybe one day that I will be able to get 5 or 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep, then It will be a whole new world for me.

What a summer
Here in Hot lanta the summer this year has been record breaking, sweltering, and just darn Hot. Air conditioners that have been neglected are breaking down, they are working the power company’s around the clock, from all the power being consumed. Some of the older citizens are having to go to the hospitals for heat exhaustion, some have died from the extreme heat. I do love the spring ,summer, and fall of the year but this year I am having to rethink my position on the summer.

How many times have you heard this line, way too many I’m sure. You are going over your accounts receivables and find the deadbeats in the over 120 days past due. Your finance manager has sent letter after letter and made phone calls until it seems ridiculous for them to spend any more time on these clients that don’t want to pay. Your finance manager has much better things to do but you want results. Then you need to get in touch with commercial collection agency. MRG also offers counseling, Getting capital, National legal support. With pay for performance only puts you in a win-win situation.

Nascar today
I am getting ready to watch the race today. It should be a good race. I hope my boy Kurt Bush wins. I still think he was crazy for him to leave Rousch Racing and go to Penske to drive Rusty Wallace’s old number 2 Miller Lite Dodge. With 4 races out from the chase old Kurt might just get in the top ten.Theres not much chance of bringing home the championship this year, but there is always next year.

Hummingbird Wars
I have a hummingbird feeder outside my bedroom window. For the last four years i have had 3 hummingbirds come every year and feed from my feeder. I don’t know if they are the same ones or not but they seem to be. This morning I was lying in bed and the birds were feeding and the male is always chasing the two females away. This goes on all day.
Well this morning another male shows up and he wants to dominate the feeder. The other male insist that the other one leave. They have put on one heck of a air show. They have bumped the window several times, they fly onto each other, and the females are joining in. The aerobatics these little creatures can do is nothing short of amazing. I just hope they don’t kill each other putting on a show for my enjoyment. Heres my birds and all you may want to know about this species.
Ruby-throated male Ruby-throated female
Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris)
The Ruby-throated Hummingbird is by far the most common species that breeds in the eastern half of North America, although most states have sporadic Rufous sightings, and Bob and Martha Sargent have banded eight other hummingbird species as winter visitors to five southeastern states. Ruby-throats are intensely inquisitive and thus easily attracted to feeders, where males in particular typically display aggressive territoriality toward rival hummers, other birds, and even insects such as bees, butterflies, and sphinx moths. They quickly become accustomed to human presence, and will swoop down to investigate red articles of clothing, possibly as potential food sources. Feeders hung at windows attract as many visitors as ones farther from structures, and the bird that claims a feeder as its territory may spend much of the day perched nearby, guarding the food source against intruders. Many hummingbird watchers find “Hummer Warz” endlessly entertaining, although the chases are obviously serious business to the hungry birds. For a short period immediately after fledging, a female will tolerate the presence of her own young at the feeder, but they are soon treated the same as other adult birds – as rivals in pursuit of the food necessary to prepare for the fall migration.
Courtship is apparently very brief, if it exists at all, and once mated the female raises the young alone. The walnut-sized nest, built by the female, is constructed on a foundation of bud scales attached to a tree limb with spider silk; lichens camouflage the outside, and the inside is lined with dandelion, cattail, or thistle down. The nest will stretch to contain the growing nestlings, and may sometimes be reused (rebuilt) the following year.
Two white, pea-sized eggs are laid two or three days apart, which the female will incubate from 60 to 80 percent of the day for 12-16 days. Reports of the duration of the nestling phase vary from 14 to 31 days, the wide range possibly varying with the availability of food; 18-23 days is normal. when they leave the nest, the chicks are considerably larger than their mothers: they may weigh 4.5 grams, while poor Mom is down to only 2.5 g after the stress of raising them. Since the mother starts incubating the first egg as soon as it’s laid, that chick will hatch and fledge earlier than its sibling; it will remain close to the nest until the other chick is ready to fly. After leaving the nest, fledglings are fed by their mother for about 10 days. It is thought that Ruby-throats live as long as 12 years, but the average is probably 3-5 years.
Physical Description
Average length: 3.5 inches (8.9 cm)
Average weight: 1/8 ounce (3.1 g)
Body temperature: 105°-108°F (40.5°-42.2°C)
Wing beats: 40-80 per second, average about 52
Respiration: 250 per minute
Heart rate: 250 beats/min resting; 1200 beats/min feeding
Flight speed: 30 mph (48 kph) normal; 50 mph (80 kph) escape; 63 mph (101 kph) dive
Plumage
Adult male: Emerald green back, iridescent ruby red gorget (throat) that may appear black under some lighting conditions, gray flanks, forked tail with no white. Smaller than the female.
Adult female: Emerald green back, white breast and throat, rounded tail with white tips. Larger than the male, with longer bill.
Juveniles: Young of both sexes look like the adult female. In August and September, young males may develop some red spots in the gorget.
Molts: One complete molt per year, which may start during the fall migration and continue into March. Young males acquire full ruby gorgets during their first molt.
Gender identification is simple if the light is right: the brilliant red gorget of the male is unmistakable. More commonly, though, the shape and presence of white on the tail is a more reliable field mark.
Distribution and Migration
Ruby-throats breed throughout eastern to midwestern North America, from southern Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. Most winter in Mexico, Central America, and on Caribbean islands, although a few remain in the Gulf states and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Most researchers accept a remarkable non-stop crossing of the Gulf, taking 18-20 hours. They arrive at the coast in late February or early March, and follow the development of spring flowers northward, reaching my home in St. Louis on April 20 +/- 2 days. Males migrate earlier than females, in both directions; some adult males start south as early as JUly. Our female breeding birds leave here (St. Louis) in September, with the young of the year following; the last juveniles depart abruptly at first frost (mid-October). By mid-November the fall migration is essentially completed throughout North America.
A fanciful and amusing myth has arisen regarding hummers hitching rides on other birds.

Blackout in Canton?
Last night as I was writing a post, the power went out. I know that the air conditioning systems have been working overtime in this oppressive heat wave that we are experiencing here in good old Georgia. I asked my better half, reckon we are having a black out? We laughed about it for a min. then decided it was no laughing matter. It took no time for the house to get hot inside and with the high humidity, it was difficult to breath. There are some elder people in my neighborhood that we were starting to worry about. No power means no A/C for these folks. I invited a couple up the road from us and told them that we can go to my daughters house just a few miles away and stay until the power was resumed. They politely declined so we were off in search of A/C to be more comfy. after about a 2 hour stay at my daughters house we called home and the answering machine kicked in and we knew we had power. I guess the old cliché’s got some truth to it. There’s no place like home! By the way there was no black out it was just a short outage.

If you are a tomato lover like I am , then you know the importance of never refrigerating tomato’s. Pull them off the vine, wash them ,slice and eat.Yum Yum. Growing your own veggies is the way to go, in the summertime I can eat straight from the garden all summer long. There is nothing that taste any better than you picking your own and preparing them the way you like. You can’t get that flavor from the grocery store. Since this year is already gone for most gardening, I am making preparations for next year
