Summertime Sharing in Georgia

The state of Georgia has some of the most fluctuating weather of any state. One day it can be 47 degrees and the next day 75. Summer in Georgia can be a very pleasing 80 degrees for weeks then turn to a torturing 95 degrees overnight. We have such humidity that the 95 degrees feels like 115 degrees. It gets so hot and sweltering that you must stay inside where it’s air conditioned. Unfortunately some people don’t have the luxury of air conditioning, they only have a fan to try and stir some air. I suppose that it’s this way in most all the southern states.
If you are from the south you know what to do, turn up the A/C get a glass of cold iced tea and invite someone less privileged to enjoy your coolness inside.

Gentlemen, Start Your Engine !

These are the most famous words in NASCAR. The premier motor sports. One thing that the crew chief on every team will triple check is the battery. If the engine fails to start, the driver can’t race. What about your camcorder, you turn it on and the view finder stays black, you don’t have enough power to start your camera. Keep all your electronic equipment, cars, mowers, tractors, and ATVs powered up with good quality power source and you will be a winner in victory lane.

Student loans

Part of college life is hard work studying. Another part happens to be student loans. There are billions of dollars loaned out each year to students to help them further their education and most all students have more than one loan. The majority of these loans are federal loans. One loan may be at 9% and another at 8.75% depending on the amount of the loan. If you do a school loan consolidation you have the peace of mind of having one payment and one interest rate that is fixed for the life of the loan. With interest rates as low as they are, you can save hundreds even thousands of dollars over the life of your loan. Plus your monthly payment may be reduced drastically. This sounds good to you doesn’t it? It makes good sense to take advantage of this.

When you start paying back your loans you will be glad that you took the time to consolidate them. Having one payment, at the lowest interest rate possible, can give you a jump on life financially.

Back from the vet

Well I got my baby Jack Russell back. She has a bacterial infection and going to be fine. She is on antibiotics and some other medicines. The vet says she should be back to normal in a couple of days. I was a little worried about the old gal because she has an enlarged heart and already has to take heart medicine daily. I am glad it wasn’t a stroke or heart attack.

Vacation time again

I get excited every year when it’s time to get away from the old hum-drum of everyday life. When you can kick your heels’s up and enjoy life for a while. There’s not a better way than a Orlando vacation home rental you can rent beautiful homes with pools and what ever amenities you require. You can stay in a condo or you can live the life of luxury, in a 7 bedroom home. The choice is yours.

There are so many different attractions in Florida, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. There are more things for the children to do, both young and old, than you can imagine. The night life is just as exciting for the adult, as anywhere. What ever your budget allows, you can be the king or you can be meager, and relaxed. Get those bags packed and let’s get going.

A day at the vet

Yesterday morning when I got up, I noticed that my baby Jack Russell seemed to be having a problem. She acted like there was something stuck in her mouth, and she couldn’t swallow very well. I looked in her mouth as best I could and all seemed ok. So I took my baby girl to the vet to have a look. He found nothing, but she had a temp of 105 degrees. The Dr. kept my baby for observation.

With canine temperatures the Dr. said that brain damage could result if it reaches 106. I was in a panic. He gave her a shot and got the temp down and started antibiotics, then took blood to see what was going on with her. Naturally I didn’t sleep a wink last night worrying about my baby. I already called this morning and I was told she was doing well, but the Dr. had not come in to check her yet. I am anxiously awaiting a call from the Dr. to tell me every thing is going to be ok, and come get my baby. I never knew that I could get so emotional about any animal. I suppose as you get older you appreciate all living things. I will let you know how this turns out when I get my baby back.

Get the fever

From time to time we get the fever to make purchases for our homes. We are looking to make changes and move things around a little to make our living environment different. So we go shopping at our local furnishing store to get ideals on what we have in mind. You may even go to North Carolina, as they’re well known for their discount furniture that you can buy at huge savings. Some of the stores there offer nationwide shipping. Where ever you live a trip through the mountains, is breathtaking.

You can look at the bargains online as well, and get the knowledge you need for making such purchases. If you are remodeling your kitchen, bedroom, den, or bathroom, it doesn’t matter. All your needs can be taken care of with the click of a mouse, or the scenery of the mountains. Either way it will take your breath away.

Lighting bugs or fireflys

Well it’s that time of year again; the lighting bugs or fireflies are out again. These little winged critters are amazing to watch, they can light up a path in the sky that looks cool. These things drive my dogs crazy. My Jack Russell’s are in awe with these flying insects. They try to catch them with their mouth by snapping at them.

When I was a kid I would go inside and ask my mother if I could have a Mason Jar so I could catch some. I bet I have captured a million of these things. I would keep them by my bed and watch them as long as I could hold my eye’s open. The next morning I would release them and catch some more the next night, and do it all over again.

Growing up in rural Georgia was a simple time in my life. We could ride our bicycle to the store and get a 6 cent cola and a moon pie for a dime. Every body knew everybody and their extended families. We lived in a real community where people cared about each other. The preacher would come by and have dinner on Sunday after church. I have heard my grandmother and our preacher debate the bible on many occasions. I didn’t realize until later in life that my grandmother must have won most of those debates, because the preacher would come by when I was older and ask my grandmother her interpretation of some of the books and phrases in the bible.

Like I said times were simple then in rural Georgia, and I sure do miss some of those times, we have gotten so technical and advanced in life that we are just too busy to enjoy life as it were meant to be. This is my opinion only

Time for new home or office furnishings?

Once in every while it comes time to buy new furnishings for your home or office. There are always hard decisions to be made. This does not have to be a difficult task, especially if you go to Studio RTA Furniture. They have well built products and competitive pricing. Fact of the matter is that you can save money, if you are or know someone that is mechanically inclined by assembling it yourself.

I have personally assembled furniture myself and it was not real difficult. I have even done the finishing to my taste. Replacing furnishings is like about every other thing we buy today, you get what you pay for. Solid wood is great but veneers are good as well. You can go with what suites your budget and still get good quality.

Jack Russell Terriers

I have 2 Jack Russell Terriers and these critters amaze me daily. I have a Mother and a Daughter pair. The Mother Dog loves to hunt, and the daughter loves to eat. I have no vermin on my premises except squirrels. I used to have an abundant offering of ALVIN, the chipmunks. They are near extinct here now. No moles, rabbits, possums, rats, anything close to the ground.

Outside my bedroom window, I put up a bird house. It is now occupied by a flying squirrel. My Jacks can’t stand to look out my window and have that thing look back at them. It drives them crazy. These are very intelligent animals. When we get ready to go somewhere I can tell them to put up their toys, the mother dog picks them up and puts them in a plastic crate. They act a lot like kids too, especially trying to find treats that the other one has hidden. This little game they play can get hilarious and entertaining. If you are looking for smart, loving dogs, consider the Jacks. But you need some acreage for them to be happy!

Tee Time

I decided to take up the game of golf. I had no ideal what was involved to get started. First you need equipment, golf clubs, balls, bag, and a good instructor. Get your Tee Time set and be there on time. The first time learning to swing I was trying to hit a homerun. After a few lessons I am more relaxed and not killing the ball. My long game is alright , but my short game is suffering tremendously. Practice is what I am told it takes. So be it, I will practice at least once a week until I get a score of under 100. Maybe I should take up Tea Time instead.

Vacation Time

I can remember when I was a kid and we would go to the Atlanta zoo. I always loved to go and see Willie B the gorilla. He was a main attraction at the zoo. Wille B done a commercial for Samsonite luggage. He would take that suit case and toss that thing all around his cage, trying to make it break. He never made it break.

When I got older and it was time for me to purchase my own traveling accessories, I remembered Willie B and that commercial. I suppose you can guess what I bought. Now when I get ready to take a vacation I pull out the accessories that Willie B inspired. Ole Willie B may have passed on in this world, but my acessories for travel are still intact and doing well. This is aproximately 25 years ago.

Finding Tickets

I can remember in the 1980′s I could find Braves baseball tickets real easy. The team was really bad then, but getting good seats and at a cheap price was no problem. Just this past weekend I was going to grab some Atlanta Braves tickets for their upcoming home stand with the Florida Marlins. It was ridiculous how much they was wanting for some of the tickets. The price was high and the seats wasn’t even good seats. I tried to find some good seats, but they are impossible to get. Now it’s nothing like trying to get Boston red sox tickets. I know the fans up in Fenway bought every seat for the whole entire year, and this was before the first game was even played this season. So things in Atlanta are not as bad; like it is in the Boston area. I guess with the Braves being so successful here lately, its made getting the tickets harder. I finally just chose not to buy any for this week’s home stand, with the Marlins and Cubs. I will look for games later in the year, and just try buying my tickets a lot sooner.

Viva Las Vegas

What’s your first thought when you think of Vegas? Casinos? Gambling? Wild Women? I bet you might have thought of something different if I ask you this same question in the 1970′s. You might of said the King? Not just any king, but the King of Rock N’ Roll.

Elvis was a big star everywhere back then, but Las Vegas was his home. Everybody says that Yankee Stadium is the house that Ruth built. Well Las Vegas is the town that Elvis built. I guess you could say the mafia too, but we will save that discussion for another time. Even today Elvis is just as big. It’s probably because you just don’t have 1 out there now. There are dozens of impersonators that are constantly running all over the place, out there in Sin City. There are a lot of other big name stars that we associate with Las Vegas too. You can obviously talk about Mr. Las Vegas himself in Wayne Newton. Then you had some of the old timers like Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. that would keep the crowds out in Las Vegas entertained. I’m just not sure if anybody ever did it like Elvis Pressley did.

TRIBUTE TO THE KING

Buying a Car

Don’t you just love it when you go to buy a car and the sales man always play the pricing game with you. This is where he has to go to the back and ask the Manager of that certain dept if the car can be sold for this certain price. When the salesman returns the manager has dropped another 150-200 dollars and tell you that is the bottom line on that car they are making nothing at that price. It make me so sad I want to cry and pay full price.Boo-Hoo.

I found out a long time ago how to buy a car at a good price but always lower than what the dealer says they Can’t take for it.What I have learned is that you negotiate you price up and not down. But you have to do your homework. You find out the true value of the vehicle,Edmunds.com is a good place to get this info. The vehicle is always wholesale price and in fair condition. After you arm yourself with this info go in and offer this amount of money for turnkey acceptance..They will tell you they cant do that.Tell them that you are not going to waste their time and you wont allow them to waste your time.Tell them that you are going to make one more offer on the vehicle and if they want to sell, you will buy it.Never offer more than 4% above the true value. If they dont meet your offer, walk away and go to another dealer.NEVER buy a car on the first visit.

It usually takes me a week to buy a car.The dealers will call you and tell you that they have a offer that you both can live with.If its not what you offered, politely say no thanks, but you left them a offer you will honor.Try this and save a lot on your next car.
